What are Machine-Readable Files (MRF)?
Since January 1, 2021, the Hospital Price Transparency Rule has required hospitals to publish their standard charges in machine-readable format. This includes negotiated rates with insurers, discounted cash prices, and gross charges.
How current is this data?
Our data includes hospital MRF files and, where available, separate Medicare benchmark data. Hospitals are required to update their files at least annually, but actual compliance and the availability of a matching rate vary by hospital and procedure.
